About Crazy Tao | Background Story Hear this, all you who yearn to hear the story which formed our earth, our families, and our lives. We are a dying few, us, the storytellers who have told and retold this ancient tale throughout the ages. Gather round your darlings and your loved ones playing in the fields with their dragons and elves, and lend an ear to this aging sage. Give me your attention, and listen with unmitigated immersion, for this tale will live on for eternity if only you will share it with your loved ones and darlings. In Our World... In our world, a world which once was, we lived in a dreamscape. Our land was a fantasy which floated by in a lysergic bliss yet at times it was boldly painted with passion. This passion was never as clearly seen as it was in the life of Chang'an for everything she did unearthed a smile from within the hearts of mankind. A lark song seemed to dance upon her lips and a rainbow of color emerged from her aura as she walked upon our hillocks of happiness. Perplexed by her passion people pinned their hopes on this mirthful maiden. And, as they often do, people began to pine for her pleasure. Intoxicated with her blithe, there arose within our world those who wished her harm. These tricksters seemed to posses a passion of their own, a sort of evil that was also seen within their nature and upon their faces. A division among the people arose and our world was, for the first time, crumbling. Chang'an grew older and fell in love with a wise spirited and devout Taoist named Xiji. Together, this pair brought forth in men a wellspring of wisdom and heartfelt love. Many were following the Tao that is everywhere and nowhere. Entwined in harmony and inner peace a balance was formed. People began to change and over the generations, they grew stronger and wiser. Yet, every yin has its yang, and the other class, those filled with hate and rage began to morph into that which they were, a wicked and loathsome league of villains. A blackness descended upon them and they evolved into a myriad of demons, goblins, ghosts, and ghouls. This calamitous crew of evil fled from mankind seeking refuge within the ink mottled mountains of Huang Chin Row. Mankind seized the chance to further distance itself from these malignant monsters and sealed them off from their world to forever dwell in darkness.
Further still Our world rose again, but the spirit of Mother Earth, sensing that there was no longer a yang to balance the yin cried out in anguish leaving a smattering of scars across her face. Upon the landscape, from the glacial snowfields of the North to the blazing deserts of DunHung, lay massive fractures. These cracks were left to remind all, who walked upon mother earth, of the days when mankind locked within her flesh the demons of yore. For now the land was not only covered in cracks but blanketed in an endless torrent of snow. As mother earth wept the once diverse landscape transformed into a frozen wasteland. Mankind again looked to the Tao and its earthly leaders, the descendants of Xiji and Chang'an, who met in a memorable embrace reminding all of the time before the birth of the legendary cracks. The Tao had not forsaken mankind, and in moments of despair a brilliant flash of light would sweep the skyline. You will not remember my loved ones, but there was a time when we stood staring at the sky and were wiled away in wonderment. The palate of Tao is loaded with luminous shades and hues of every imaginable color. I remember staring dumbfounded at the skyline in all its purpled glory. The descendants of Xiji and Chang'an decided to move towards the deserts to see if they too were windswept and covered in a cottony pillow of white. Not wanting to become a nomadic clan walking the wasted white expanse a few of the people refused to leave. Led by the self proclaimed King Kulferteen, the people who stayed in the baron winters of the north became embittered at the courage and constancy of the rest of mankind and decided to open the mountain and unleash the monsters onto those who had abandoned them. Upon opening the crack that sealed of the monsters King Kulferteen made a deal with the monsters to spare his life and hail him "Deathless Demon", leader of evil. The brutish fiends gobbled up everyone except their new leader upon exiting the cave. The "Deathless Demon" and his minions of doom set off in search of mankind. The Tao was speaking to its earthly leaders and as they were searching for the deserts they found a crack in time leading to a foreign land. Fearing for their lives and an eternity with frozen fauna they forged onward towards the inevitable and its mysterious lands. As the monsters were approaching, they saw the glimmering crack in time sealing itself off. The "Deathless Demon" and his army of evil screamed into the night and as mankind moved through the Time crack they heard not only the Arctic winds of their past but the horrid cries of evil resonating round the cavernous crack in time. A New Land The Taoist wanderers emerged from the chasm to find a land of milk and honey. A land similar to the one they had heard their ancestors inhabited but had long since forgotten. It was a magical land, that was evident to all, for in the air were dragons and fairies and mythical animals without name and the land itself was teeming with life of such exoticism that even the Taoist masters were astounded. The colors were vibrant and alive, and as one looked upon this new land, their eyes would leap from one sort of magic to another in delight and astonishment. They had truly found the fabled land of mystical fortune. The leader of the land was a man of mythic proportions and his heart was as kind and forgiving as the hearts of the innocent animals he loved so much. He arranged a meeting with the leaders of this new tribe of man and together they arrived at a consensus that they would be allowed to coexist in peace so long as they treated the animals with love and respect and continued to keep the harmony between man and animal. When they asked what the land was called and the "King of Animals" responded, "This is the world of Crazy Tao!" they knew they had found Eden. Man and animal lived in a symbiotic paradise and as the years wore on and generation after generation was born the people of Tao became the people of Crazy Tao. For in this new land they had found peace and harmony and Tao. To look upon the land in that time was a serene snapshot in time. But mother earth was also changing and as her pounding Polaris subsided the land began to crackle and snap as the ages of ice began to melt under her shining eyes which had finally ceased to weep. Crisis Evil has not disappeared, the "Deathless Demon" and his Monsters began to thaw under the sun and as the land began to show its beauty the monsters beamed with hatred and rage. They had frozen under the endless cold waiting for the gap in time to reopen. Now they pledged revenge and as the earth melted and thawed the crack in time reopened under the enormous pressure that was swelling within the belly of Mother Earth. That night, tucked in their beds, the people of Crazy Tao watched the sky turn a blood red that made the people shutter and the animals howl. As the little devils and behemoth beasts began to inhabited the once pastoral lands of Crazy Tao, the people and animals made a pact that they would share their strengths and weaknesses together, that they would continuously train in the arts of the Warrior and the Shaman, and that they would continuously fight alongside each other until the threat of the monsters was eliminated. This sacred struggle for survival is the pact that bonds you to your animals today. After years of fighting and training in the mystical arts, the animals learned how to incorporate not only their skills with their human friends, but also their bodies. This is only one of the arts that the fighters are practicing as we speak today. For there are leaders, families and underground guilds that are so strong they have learned the secret arts of the true masters; Sage, Warrior, and animal fighting alongside each other as one. It's a truly remarkable thing. Some of the people joined the legions of evil thinking they were going to win the fight between good and evil, and they almost did for it has been recorded in the annuls of time. Everyone knows the story of when the "Deathless Demon" and his hellhounds broke through our defenses and "The King of Animals" himself fought him for hours eventually killing him. Although, as he was savoring victory a horde of demons attacked him with black magic and a volley of spears. It was his death that gave the animals their extra potency while fighting. The demons retreated into the various corners of our land, but some say after fighting for a while each animal can still feel the death of its King and will fight with Extra Potency.Cheers went up for the warriors who had fought so valiantly and defeated the monsters. They are still out there but they rarely enter the cities of our fair land. They have made it nearly impossible for man or woman to walk the wilds of our beautiful land. One day there will be a victory, and in that victory a much needed sigh of relief will expire from all those who have been fighting for peace and harmony with the animals. One day you too will fight this fight. Will you learn the secret, mystical ways of the Shaman or will you follow the path of the Warrior, so well skilled in the arts of weaponry. Whichever you choose my sons and daughters, be vigilant and fight alongside your pets. Someday someone will give you an egg and within this egg is your best friend, for it will hatch into your defender and your warrior. No matter how many pets you have do not disregard their worth for someday you may find a rare and talented animal. Perhaps you are thinking that you don't need to take on the responsibilities of raising a new animal if you already have one who is loyal and fierce. Do not be foolish, it will learn quickly under your tutelage and strength. I wish you the best my sons and daughters. Good luck in this fight and never give up until the balance of yin and yang is restored and Crazy Tao is once again a land of paradise. |
